How it works

Three minutes of questions. One formal letter. Certified proof your landlord received it.

1 · You answer plain-English questions

Your state, deposit amount, move-out date, the landlord's mailing address, and a short description of what happened. No legal knowledge needed — the statute does the legal talking.

2 · We assemble your letter

Your facts are placed into a formal demand letter built for your state: the statute citation, the return deadline your landlord missed, the itemization rules, and the remedies the statute provides — including multiplied damages where your state allows them. Nothing is exaggerated: the letter says what the law says.

3 · You review and approve

You see the complete letter before anything is printed. Fix a date, adjust the amount, correct a name — then approve.

4 · We print it and mail it certified

Your letter is printed and sent by USPS Certified Mail, usually the next business day (same-day rush available). You get the PDF by email immediately, the tracking number as soon as USPS scans it, and a delivery confirmation when it lands.

5 · The clock starts

Certified delivery puts your landlord formally on notice. Most disputes end here — a check or a settlement offer. If yours doesn't, the delivery record is your evidence for small claims court, and we'll email you what the typical next steps look like as your state's deadline passes.
